Tourist Visa

  1. Original signed passport with at least six months of remaining validity and blank visa pages; and
  2. A photocopy of the passport’s bio-page and the photo page if it is separate.

One (1) Visa Application Form   completed and signed.  Must fill-up all fields and must be typed in all caps.  

One (1) recently taken professional passport-type photograph.
Digital and non-passport photographs are not acceptable.

A clear copy of applicant drivers license or state issued photo ID.  The address on the Drivers License must match the address on the visa application form.

A copy of your round trip airline tickets, itinerary or e-ticket, Cruise itinerary or letter of confirmation from a Travel Agency confirming entry and exit from mainland China.
The flight itinerary, cruise confirmation or Travel Agent letter must show the applicant’s name, date of arrival and departure from the country.

Provide a photocopy of your previous Chinese Visa.

Business Visa

A business letter (click here for sample letter) from the US company – The letter must explain all of the following:
Nature of business to be performed
Name and address of reference to be visited
Your job title and description
This letter should request Multiple Entries visa if required
Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit
The letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant.

The Chinese Embassy requires that one of the following two items be submitted in addition to the above requirements:

A letter from the company which you are conducting business with in China. It must be signed by the management in charge of the area that the applicant intends to be in contact with informing:

Personal information of the invitee: Name, Gender and Date of Birth.
Passport Number
Job position and job description of the contact person in China.
Assignment description and information about the end purpose of the intended activities in China (sales, purchases, coordination, auditing, etc)
Date(s) and place(s) of the meetings and information on periodicity, average length and assignment description of future trips if any.
Financial responsibility for the trip, if applicable.
This letter of invitation should be written on company letterhead and must have company seal. (A/K/A “Chop”)
Name and Title of the visa applicant must be included.
Provide a detailed description of the business which will be preformed in China including a detailed timeline.
Signature of the inviting contact in China and company seal. (A/K/A “Chop”)

OR

An invitation known as a “Visa Notification Form” from the PRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs or from China Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Commission or from any authorized government entity. This invitation should be arranged by your host in China and may be emailed or faxed to you.

The original and a photocopy of an Invitation Letter by a Duly Authorized Unit, or a Confirmation Letter of Invitation issued by an authorized Chinese agency, and one of the following documents: Please be sure to include the applicants passport number on the letter of invitation:

A. Foreigner Employment Permit issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China;

B. Foreign Expert Confirmation Document issued by State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of China;

C. Letter of Invitation to Foreigners for Offshore Petroleum Operations in the People’s Republic of China issued by China National Offshore Oil Corporation;

D. Registration Certificate of Foreign Enterprises’ Permanent Representative Offices in China issued by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, or the approval document for the permanent representative offices of foreign enterprises issued by related commercial departments;

E. Approval document issued by the Ministry of Culture for those who come to China for commercial performances.

F. Invitation Letter by a Duly Authorized Unit or a Confirmation Letter of Invitation issued by the Foreign Affairs Office of a province (autonomous region, city).

Accompanying family members of foreigners working in China should submit an Invitation Letter by a Duly Authorized Unit or Confirmation Letter of Invitation issued by an authorized Chinese agency, and proof of kinship, e.g. marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc. There is no need for them to submit documents of employment permit.

* Z Visa holders must apply for a residence permit at the local public security authorities within 30 days of entry into China.
