Valid and signed U. S. Passport, valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended stay and must have at least two blank visa pages. Foreign Embassies cannot issue a visa on a page not labeled as a Visa page. Amendment and Endorsement pages in the back of the passport cannot be used for issuance of a visa.

Complete the application form online.  After you have registered on-line, the application is to be printed out, signed twice, inside the box under the photo in page 1 and in page 2 under the applicants signature. 

Note: The application must be printed on TWO sheets of paper, the Indian Embassy will NOT accept applications on a single sheet of paper back to back.

One (1) recent professional passport-type photograph.
Digital and non-passport photographs are not acceptable.

Please submit a clear copy of applicant’s Driver’s License; OR

Major Utility Bill (Water, Gas, Electric. Sewage); OR

Copy of a valid / current lease containing both the landlord and tenant signatures.

Applicants applying for tourist visa must complete the required documents listed above.  In some cases, the Embassy/Consulate may require the Religious Undertaking Letter.  Please complete and sign the letter and include it to your visa application.

  1. Business Letter – US Company Business Letter is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to the Consulate (of Jurisdiction).  The content of the letter must follow the Business Letter Template (numbering is not required). The business letter should also confirm the validity of the visa being applied for (1 Year, 5 Year or 10 Years).Note: It is recommended to submit the original business letter, a copy is acceptable in most cases although the Indian Embassy reserves the right to ask for the original at any time.
  2. Official Invitation Letter – A letter of invitation from host company in India, addressed to the Consulate (of Jurisdiction).  The content of the invitation must follow the Sponsor Invitation Letter Template (numbering is not required).  The invitation should also confirm the validity of the visa being applied for (1 Year, 5 Year or 10 Years). A copy is acceptable in most cases although the Embassy/Consulate reserves the right to ask for the original at any time.
  3. Certificate of Incorporation – It is mandatory to provide a copy of the Certificate of Incorporation from the host company in India in addition to the Letter of Invitation (above). 

Note: The Business Letter of responsibility (above) and Letter of Invitation must clearly state the validity of the visa you wish to apply for ( 1 Year, 5 Years or 10 Years ) and the visa application form (below) must match the stated validity in these two letters.  If these three items DO NOT match your application will be rejected by the Indian Embassy/Consulate.

Note: The Indian government offers the option to apply for a 10 year multiple entry visa, however the majority of applicants will only recieve a 5 year visa. The embassy will make a decision as to the validity of the visa issued on a case by case basis.

 

Photocopy of a Birth Certificate is required for Minors aged 0 – 17 along with copies of the information page of both parents passports, however the embassy reserves the right to ask for a copy of the applicants Birth Certificate from adults aged 18 and above at their discretion.

Complete and sign one Parental Authorization Form. This Form must be Notarized.

Minors Signing the Visa application form: A minor child should sign their name inside the signature box under the photo on first page of the application. If the child is too young to sign their name, the child’s thumbprint must be stamped inside the signature box under the photo on first page of the application. On the second page of the application, the minor child should NOT sign the application. On the second page of the application, BOTH of the child’s parents must sign the application, and both parents’ signatures should be NOTARIZED.  Applications without both parents’ notarized signatures will not be accepted.
