U.S. Passport Holders are not required to obtain a visa when entering Thailand for Tourism purposes and will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period not exceeding 30 days on each visit (15 day stays if arriving by land-crossing). The period of stay may not be extended.
U.S. Passport Holders who are planning to stay in Thailand as tourists for a period longer than 15 – 30 days must obtain a tourist visa before entering Thailand. Travelers entering Thailand for purposes other than tourism need to apply for a visa of the specific entry type.
Tourist Visa
Valid and signed U. S. Passport, must not expire within 6 months and must have at least one blank visa page.
One (1) Visa Application Form completed and signed.
Two (2) recently taken professional passport-type photographs.
Digital and non-passport photographs are not acceptable.

Copy of your round trip airline tickets, or itinerary or e-ticket, or letter of confirmation from a travel agent. The itinerary must show the applicant’s name, date of arrival and departure from the country, and flight information.
Copy of recent bank statement (for Single Entry – $700 per person and $1,500 per family). The name of the applicant must indicated clearly. In case of submitting family bank statement a proof of relationship (i.e. birth certificate, marriage certificate) must be provided. For multiple entries, a copy of bank statement for the last 6 months with a minimum balance of $7,000 (every months).
Hotel reservation confirmation, showing the name of the applicant.
- Single Entry Only Applicants: If self employed please provide a copy of a business license or business registration indicating the applicants name.
- Multiple Entry Only Applicants: An employment verification letter or document.
- For students, proof of current student status.
- For self employed, provide a copy of a business license or business registration indicating the applicants name.
For minor under 20 years old, please provide following documents
– Notarized copy of a birth certificate
– Notarized copy of marriage certificate , In case of sole custody notarized copy of court order must be provided.
– Notarized copy or original passports or ID of mother and father/ legal guardian
– Original letter of notarized consent for the minor to travel abroad from mother and father/ legal guardian

Business Letter (click here for sample letter) from the US company – Letter from applicant’s company indicating the applicant’s position, length of employment, salary , purpose of visit(s) to Thailand and length of stay in Thailand
Letter of invitation from trading or associated partners/ companies in Thailand indicating length of stay (period of stay) and purpose of visit(s) to Thailand
For Stay over 15 days – A letter of approval from the Ministry of Labor is required. To obtain this letter, the company in Thailand is required to submit Form WP3 at the Office of Foreign Workers Administration, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labor Tel. 02-245-2745, or at the Provincial Employment Office in his or her respective province.
