Tourist/Visitor Visa

  1. Valid and signed U. S. Passport – It must be valid 6 months beyond intended stay and must have at least two blank visa pages.
  2. Bio-page photocopy of the passport.

Copy of your round trip airline tickets, or itinerary or e-ticket, or letter of confirmation from a travel agent. The itinerary must show the applicant’s name, date of arrival and departure from the country, and flight information.

Persons applying for a Visitor Visa (staying with friends or relatives) – must include a signed letter of invitation from their hosts in Zambia, which should state the following: Hosts names and address; Applicants name; Length of stay in Zambia; and Purpose of the visit.  Photocopy of Host’s NRC if Zambian, or entry work permit as the case may be.

Business Visa

Business Letter (click here for sample letter) from the US company – The letter must explain all of the following: Nature of business to be performed; Name and address of reference to be visited; This letter should request Multiple Entries visa if required; Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit; The letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant.

Invitation Letter from Host in Zambia – Invitation letter should detail purpose of trip, duration of stay, address where you are staying in Zambia and your name and passport number, letter must be signed by host.   Fax or scan is accepted.

Diplomatic Visa

  1. Valid and signed U. S. Passport – It must be valid 6 months beyond intended stay and must have at least two blank visa pages.
  2. Bio-page photocopy of the passport.

Letter from sending department or agency, addressed to: Embassy of Zambia, Visa Section, Washington DC.  The letter must state all of the following: Applicant’s position and title; Purpose of travel; Dates of the intended trip.

Note: Consulate Acceptance Timeframes

Visa applications at the Zambia Embassy are accepted on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays only. The Embassy is closed every Thursday and this is not counted as a processing day. This may affect processing timeframes for faster service requests.
